For the fourth year in a row, we ended the year and started a new one with a road trip in Japan. This time, we went to Gifu and Nagano, exploring some of the old post towns and villages – Magome-juku, Tsumago-juku, Hida-Furukawa, Takayama and Narai-juku. Photographs don’t do justice to how beautiful these places are, but here are some that attempt to capture their essence.
